Santa Fe is home to some amazing New Mexican Restaurants. The hardest part about your next meal is deciding where to enjoy it. Don’t worry, we got you covered, Christmas style ;).

Here are our favorite New Mexican Restaurants in Santa Fe we keep returning to when we need our hearty fix.

Editors note: Some of these might overlap as New Mexican/Mexican so keep that in mind. One other thing to note. New Mexican Food is entirely amazing. Bienvenidos.

La Choza

la choza meal santa fe - enchiladas and sopapillas

La Choza is one of the most renowned New Mexican restaurants in Santa Fe and also one of the best overall places to eat in Santa Fe. Don’t miss this place if you have the chance and make sure to arrive early as waits easily can get longer than 2 hours.

La Choza’s location isn’t perfect as parking is limited and in a one-way in, one-way out parking lot.

If you’re staying near the plaza, taking a Lyft is probably the best idea as walking might take you around 25 minutes and parking might not be the most ideal. The restaurant is located adjacent to the bike path making biking here another viable option as well.

The Shed

The Shed is another Santa Fe staple and is also brought to you by the same owners as La Choza. Being sister restaurants, there is some overlap in offerings but the more extensive menu goes to La Choza.

Regardless of either you experience, both are outstanding. Because of their popular nature, both can be tough to get seated unless you enjoy waiting for up to 2 hours for a table. We highly recommend planning your meals in advance to fully enjoy your time in the city different.

Tomasita’s

Located in the heart of the Railyard district and adjacent to the NMRX, Tomasita’s is a premiere New Mexican Restaurant in Santa Fe that needs to be on your radar. This place does get pretty busy but has a generous seating area so things tend to move at a good pace.

Like most of the places on this list, Tomasita’s offers excellent margaritas and other New Mexican fare. This is one of our favorite places for Sopapillas in the city.

Casa Chimayo

Casa Chimayo is a charming downtown New Mexican restaurant option in Santa Fe. Low ceilings and excellent food enhance the ambiance of their historic adobe home restaurant.

Parking can be tough in this part of the city so those who are staying near should definitely walk to this establishment.
